Each development team wishes to deploy new versions of their applications in a fast, reliable, repeatable and easy fashion. They want to be able to deploy new features in every moment, even more times a day when required. Only by establishing an automated continuous delivery process they are able to achieve such a continuous transition of software from their hands to the hands of their end users, significantly reducing the time needed to respond to changes in user requirements. This session presents Release Management for Visual Studio 2013, a continuous delivery solution that automates the release process through all of your staging environments, from Team Foundation Server through to production. By acquiring the InRelease solution from InCycle Software, Microsoft fulfilled a significant gap in its application lifecycle management toolset and further improved the coordination and communication between development, operations and quality assurance teams. We will demonstrate how this new tool can help your team manage the full release pipeline, which starts with a code change triggering an automated build and goes on with automated deployment to various target servers in different staging environments, ending with release to production. You will learn how to model your release process using graphical tools, enable and track approvals and sign-offs, and make good use of release analytics and reporting.
